Patriotic Dipped Strawberries

It's official!  Or unofficial.  Either way, today begins what we all consider the start of summer.  Let the cookouts, BBQ's parties and vacations begin.  And if you're looking for a fun and festive, not to mention quick, treat for your event today, look no further.  These cute dipped strawberries are perfect--sweet, tasty, seasonal and precisely the kind of celebratory dessert that everyone will love.

This is essentially a non-recipe.  Just three ingredients and a few minutes will turn your regular strawberries into a patriotic dish.  I pinned this idea last year and made it as a last minute treat for a party last summer.  These dipped berries went over so well, I'm sure I'll be making them again this year (and wouldn't they be cute dipped in green sugar for Christmas?).  The "recipe" comes from Six in the Suburbs, but I never actually checked it out since it's pretty self explanatory.  But I'll detail it for you so you can spend 10 minutes putting together an adorable treat everyone will love.

Patriotic Dipped Strawberries

Ingredients

1 pound strawberries
8 ounces white chocolate chips
3 Tablespoons blue sanding sugar

Wash and pat dry the strawberries, taking care to make sure they aren't wet.  Place white chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl.  Melt in microwave on 50% power for 60 seconds.  Stir, then melt at 50% power for 30 seconds, repeating until smooth.

Dip a strawberry in white chocolate, about 2/3 of the way up.

Dip bottom third of strawberry in sanding sugar.  Place on a waxed paper lined plate and allow to set.  Repeat with remaining ingredients.

Chill dipped strawberries to set and until ready to serve.

Makes about a pound of dipped strawberries.

Happy Baking,
The Cookie Princess
